Window Into Something Not-so Alien, 2022
Reclaimed artist book
Featured video of a reclaimed artist book from Windows, a trio exhibition at 934 Gallery in 2022. This exhibition showcased two- and three-dimensional work based on interpretations of the idea of “collage”. The exhibition utilized three books featuring textiles, street photography, and architecture from the places that respectively shaped the artists. In addition to this body of work, the exhibition also housed the remnant and reclaimed artist books.
The original source book is Raghubir Singh: Modernism on the Ganges, which showcases a curated selection of Indian street photography and landscape scenes from Singh’s photographic career. In conceiving the works for the exhibition, forms were selectively and carefully removed from the book as a means of creating a visual “found poetry” in the negative spaces.
